Dear readers,
First of all I want to commend you all on very thoughtful, honest blog posts thus far. I have enjoyed reading about what type of reader you are and the characters you like most. It always interests me what others have to say, and I appreciate the work you are doing on the blog.
Traveling, alongside of reading, is one of my passions. I love immersing myself in new cultures, learning the past and present of a city. Many summers I travel to different countries and always make it a point to pack multiple books to read at the airport and on the insanely long plane rides. My love of reading often coincides with my love for travel.
However the past two summers, I had different priorities. I focused on directing the Summer Teachers Institute at Oak Hill, which was a three-day workshop for Nashville area teachers. While my trips did not take me across oceans or to places where a different language was spoken, I still found myself out of town often. I plan to visit my parents' house on the beach a few times, travel to Portland and Seattle with my brother, and to Virginia for a friend's wedding.
Whenever I travel, especially to the beach, I make sure to pack multiple books and set aside time to read. The beach is my favorite place to read whether it is with my feet in the sand under an umbrella, lounging at the pool, or relaxing on the day bed swing on the upstairs porch. The beach life allows me to slow down and read for hours. In a week's trip, I usually read two to three books. I am most relaxed and content when I make the time to read at the beach.

My favorite place to read is the hammock in my backyard. It is a very peaceful place as there are lots of trees and birds and it is very shady. I can very easily get lost in a book there because I am comfortable and relaxed. The hammock swings back and forth, and the motion entrances me into the book I am reading. That is why I love reading in my hammock.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is on my bed in my bedroom. I get under the covers and get all nice and warm and comfortable. I prop up my pillow against my bed frame and lean back and relax. I put on some soft PJs' and I put on some fuzzy socks. I usually make myself some hot chocolate or apple cider and put it on my bedside table. I open the curtains that are behind my bed and read by the the light of the sun. I shut my bedroom door so there will be no distracting noises in the room. When the door is shut, I am wrapped up in my sheet cave, I have a sweet, warm drink right next to me, my feet are in hog heaven inside the fuzzy depths of my socks,my back and shoulders are being relaxed by the newest, most awesome mesaje chair in the world called, "The Pillow", I am being transported into the world of my book. In my bedroom on my bed is by far my absolute favorite place to read an enchanting story because I am comfortable and it is nice and quiet. I love reading!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is on the beach. When I am reading on the beach, I feel so relaxed and happy. I feel that I can really get in to a book and really enjoy it while I am on the beach. I love to just get lost in a book and feel like I am part of the story watching it all happen. I love to hear the waves crash when i am reading, also. I love to sit out in the sun and just feel relaxed. The beach always makes me very happy and so does reading
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is in my room. I love reading here because I can lay on my beanbag and have the sun from my window go on the book and I feel like I'm out side. I love when it rains because of the pitter-patter on the window. There are a lot of places I enjoy reading but when I am in my room it is just different. There is also a birds nest in the gutter above my window and I love when the baby birds chirp. It gets me distracted some time but it is also very interesting.

Another reason why is because I usually read at night and it helps me fall asleep. I also like reading in there because it's one of the only places that is actually quiet in my house. Those are just some of the reasons why my bed is my favorite place to read.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is on my couch. I like to read there because it is very relaxing. Also, it is very long so I can stretch out on it. It is very easy for me to get lost in my book because there is nothing to distract me. I will pile blankets on me until I get nice and cozy. I love to read on my couch because it gives me some alone time to rest. These reasons are why I love to read on my couch.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is my ENO hammock. I love being in the hammock on a nice day, because it is relaxing and calm. I am also outside witch is my favorite place. When you are outside there is nothing to distract you. It's also nice that you can move it around to different spots to enjoy nature and read. When I hear the creek running and I am reading a Fly Fishing (My Favorite summer Activity)Book. Its hard to put into words but it just feels right. ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is by the pool. I like to read by the pool because I it is a great place to read when you want to read outside. Even though it is not particularly quiet I still find a way to get lost in a book. I get very relaxed when I am reading under the sun and hear the water splashing it almost makes me feel like I am at the beach. Those are some reasons I like to read by the pool.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is my bed. It is always quiet in my room, and there are never distractions. When I'm in my room I feel like I am far away from the rest of my noisy little brother and little sister. I can sit or lay on my bed, but I prefer sitting because I have a view of the city of Chicago that way. Another plus of reading on my bed is that I can prop my book or iPad (used for reading) on my pillow. I also love to read before I go to sleep every night. These are just a few of the reasons my favorite place to read is my bed. It will be interesting to figure out where my favorite place to read will be in my new house in Nashville.
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite place to read is on my fuzzy purple chair in my room. I like it because it is so comfortable and cozy. I can curl up in it or I can just sit. It is right next to my desk, which has a lamp, which also makes the corner where my purple chair is a little brighter. So when I read there, I don’t want to stop because I’m uncomfortable or because it is so dark, I only stop when I’ve finished my book. That is why I like to read in my purple chair.
ReplyDeleteOne of my most favorite places to read is on my new hammock outside near my pool. I sometimes will bring a pillow and a blanket to be cozy. I love to be comfortable when I read. Even if it is burning or freezing outside I will still read on my hammock. I also love to read there because I love getting fresh air and not being stuffed up inside. That is why I love to read in my hammock.
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite place to read is on my front porch. That way I can feel the fresh air when I read. For me, the outside air lets me feel what is happening in the book. It lets me feel the character's emotions. That outside air makes me feel like I want to keep reading. If I'm inside, I can't do that. That is why I like reading on my front porch.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is on my couch in my playroom. I usually lay my head on top of the arm of the couch, and spread my legs out so I will be comfortable. I normally read when I have just finished breakfast or just woken up. I like to shut the doors so that none of my siblings create any distractions, and I can read peacefully. I love this room because there are many windows, and the natural light is beautiful. For me the place that I am reading has to have 2 major key qualities; comfortable and quietness. I love reading a good book on the couch in my playroom.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is probably the kitchen counter. Usually everyone says to go in a comfortable place to read like the couch in the Living Room. I like to read at the kitchen counter because it is stable. This is means that because I usually like to read with my elbows resting on something when I read, the kitchen counter is perfect for reading because it is very stable. I also like this certain place because it has a slight chill felling. Meaning, that it is a little cold on the counter. I like this because it feels nice on my elbows and makes them feel relaxed. My final reason I like reading in this spot is because there are plenty of clocks nearby. So, when I'm doing timed reading I don't have to panic about knowing how long I've read. Though the kitchen counter might not be the most comfortable place ever it is a great reading spot for me.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is in my ENO (hammock). The reason I like to read in my ENO is because it is very relaxing and calm. My neighborhood does not make a lot a noise so I can always read in a quite peaceful place with an additional bid chirp. I also like to read in y ENO because I can move back in forth in it which is very calming and relaxing. It is very easy to get lost in a book in my ENO.
ReplyDeleteI really like to read anywhere that is cozy and comfortable. For example the beach is where I get the most amount of reading done because I can hear the waves crash upon each other,and I can get more into the book because it is quite and it is just amazing. I also like to read in my bed at night where it is so cozy. Just thinking about cozy things makes me want to fall asleep! There are many places that I like to read at.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is my bedroom on my bed.I luike it becuase it is soft and comfortable.It really helps me consentrate on the book that I am reading. Usually like to read when there is a calming noise. Anywhere where I'm relaxed helps. I also like my bed becuase it makes me tired and then relaxed.I'm not always in my room though sometimes I like to read in the living room. where I can chill and read.These to places always help me read.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is on the couch by the fire when it’s cold outside. I feel very relaxed and it’s a great way to unwind. Sometimes I’ll bring a mug of hot cocoa or apple cider and it makes me feel nice and cozy. The heat of the fire calms me makes me feel “safe”. I’ll sit by the fire at night after a long day of snowball fights or maybe just after homework (Or to finish the rest of it).
ReplyDeleteBut in the Summer when it’s hot I’ll lay up in my bed at night with my dog Sparky and read until I fall asleep. Sometimes I’ll stay up for hours and others just minutes after a long night of soccer. But both of those places are my favorite places to finish my night off strong reading a great book.
My favorite place to read is in one of our pool chairs, in the shade, by the pool. I love reading in that spot because I can always have complete focus when I am reading in that particular spot. I think that that spot helps my focus because even though there is always other activity in and/or by the pool, that little spot in the shade in the comfy chair is so quiet and calm that I think it is the perfect place to read. I think that I am a better “outside reader” than an “inside reader” because I like to hear faint noises from outside in the background as I read. I like to hear sounds such as, birds singing, crickets chirping, or tree branches blowing in the wind. I cannot stay absorbed in the book as well without some outside noise in the background. Although I enjoy reading almost anywhere, I think that my favorite spot to read in outside by the pool or at least somewhere outdoors. That is my favorite place to read!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is at the pool. When I have had I a nice swim, I'll like to take a little while to really connect with the characters in my books. This is when I really get my mindful juices flowing. I enjoy it because it's really calm, peaceful, and all around comforting.

I will read until my parents make me go to bed. sometimes I wake up super early just to read more. I even pretend that I am asleep, then read some more. ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read, is at my camp at rest hour. I like it because it is about halfway in between your day so I am always so tired, so it relaxes me. Also, I like it because everyone else is usually quiet so I can concentrate. Another reason I love it is because, it is hot out so we have a fan and I like the noise it makes when I am reading because it also relaxes me. The final reason I like reading at camp is because, it is usually such a pretty day and there is sometimes a breeze the comes through the screen that I love. This is why I love reading at camp.

I know some of you guys might think it is sometimes loud outside well its not for me. I block all the sounds out and focus on my book. When I read outside I get away from all the crazy things in my house. I just love to read outside.

The reason I like to read here for fun is I can shut down and totally focused on my booklet when something big happens I stop reading and watch it. The Reason I love to do this is because I like to shut down, read, and the couch is comfy. I also like when there is a lot noise.
ReplyDeleteI don’t have a favorite place to read! I will read anywhere anytime as I long as I have a good book. I will get sucked into a book and be able to block out any other noise. Sometimes I become so concentrated on my book that I loose track of time! My two favorite places are my parent’s car and my bedroom. I love reading in my parent’s car’s because I like the way the small space makes you feel cozy, and in the winter time I turn on the seat warmers and it makes me feel like I am reading by a fireplace. I enjoy reading in my bedroom because it is quiet and peaceful. I love to snuggle under my covers and sink into my pillow as I begin to read. At night it is so quiet that the only sound you can hear is the refrigerator running. These are some of my favorite places to read.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is on my bed, with the door shut. I like reading in my bedroom because with the door shut its like you are separated from all the yelling, and loud noises. I have to read in absolute quietness, to really get into the story. I like to read on my bed so that way I am comfortable with the silk of my pillowcase, and the fluffy blanket. I like to be comfortable because then I am not thinking, "How, much longer do I have to read?" Instead I can lay there for hours and not get tired of reading.
ReplyDeleteAnother one of my favorites is the beach. I like to sit in the beach chair under an umbrella, rub my toes in the sand and read. It makes me feel relaxed to read on the beach with the sound of the waves chattering and the seagulls soaring through the sky. It’s almost like I can’t hear even hear it, if I really get into the book.
I have a lot of places where I like to read to not get distracted by my family. One place I love to read at was also on the beach because I was there the whole month in June. Reading on the beach is fun because it is very peaceful and I lose track of time when I start to read. Another place I love to read at is my window seat it is the best place because when I am reading I like to imagine that the book is coming alive in my backyard so I look out the window. I also like reading on my porch at my house because inside it is very loud sometimes and outside is quiet. I like to focus on my book with no distractions and all of these places are quiet and no one is bothering me. Those are my favorite places to read.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is on my bed. I have a reading light and get all the pillows just right and can settle into the story. This way no dog or sister is in my space and i can get alot done.This is the perfect quiet comfy spot.

I really love to read there because all the other places are usually occupied or they're too loud, but when I start to read and settle down, I start to get myself lost in a magical book. Most of the other places I read are either too loud or full of people, but my bedroom allows me to read undisturbed.

I love this place because I can get lost in a book with no distraction. I also love it because whenever I see the chair I think of how good that book is and it makes me want to go sit down and read it.
ReplyDeleteI love to read almost ANYWHERE. From the couch to hours outside on a blanket, reading is a great thing to do, inside and out. I am very BUGGED about reading in loud places. It is one of my biggest pet peeves. My all time favorite place to read is outside on a hammock. I love reading there because it is so quiet, calm and relaxing. But things get much better when I get lost in a good book. I can then read for hours at a time. Just the other day, I read for SEVEN hours! I would have read much longer, but I had to stop because I had to go to bed. The hammock is also a great choice to read because it is not only comfortable, but very easy to put up and take down. Overall, my #1 recommendation to read is outdoors!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is on my bed next to my dog, Duke. One reason I like to read next to my dog is because he is my pillow. I also like reading on my bed because it is very comfy, and there is no noise in my room. Reading in my room is so peaceful it's like floating on a cloud.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is on the chair beside my pool. Normally my brother Will follows me around. However, when I am sitting by the pool it is nice and quiet. I feel that I can more deeply understand the book when I have no distractions. I hear the quiet water fountain that flows into the pool from the hot tub. You can smell the nice flowers surrounding you. When I am by the pool the words on the page dart out and I notice things I would not have noticed normally. The pages of the book feel magical, even if it is not a fantasy. I feel as if the characters are right in front of me. This is why I like reading by my pool.

Whenever I am by my pool I feel like I am at the beach and I hear the peaceful sound of the waves hitting the sand. But then I come back to reality and I still feel relaxed. I also hear the birds chirping and always think to myself "Man I am lucky!"
ReplyDeletemy most beloved place to read is in my reading nook. it is quiet (except for the occational chirp from my parakeets.) and is away from all the commotion on the other side of the house. it is in front of a window so there is plenty of natural light. My favorite reason why i love my reading nook is because it has a huge chair that you seep down in then you sit. It is a perfect place to read, Although when I am older and have the space and money i plan to have a very large portion of my house dedicated to books and reading.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is on the white couch in our living room. Whenever I want to read, I just head over to my couch. There are some really big windows right above it so a flood of brightness comes in whenever there is light outside. Sometimes, if it is a really good book, I could sit there for hours and read without noticing the outside world . I also like it because most of the time it is really peaceful in there.

My favorite place to read is my Eno hammock. I love being in the backyard with the birds chirping and the wind blowing. It's so relaxing! Most people feel distracted if they hear all the noises around them, but I feel like it's where I can focus best. I zone out when I'm outside and disappear into my book. I like hearing the "sound effects" of the outside world and it makes me feel as if I really went into the book. I could read all day outside if I were able.

Most people feel distracted by these noises but I feel it's where I focus best. I usually get so carried away that I read for hours! Reading outside helps me get into my book.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is in my room on my top bunk. I love reading here because I am very comfy and cozy all bundled up in my pink fuzzy blanket. Almost always I have chosen a good book to read, so I want to stay in my bed even longer. It is a quiet spot where I find I can lose myself in my reading. Sometimes I don’t even feel like I am still in my house. I might feel transported to a faraway kingdom in the Land of Stories or I might be helping Harry, Ron and Hermione fight off Death Eaters at Hogwarts. Cozy and snug places are the spots where I can focus best on my book. My top bunk is most definitely my favorite place to read.

I love this spot because everyone is usually downstairs so it is super quiet and the sun flows through the window next to me lighting up my book. Sometimes I sit and read for hours not even knowing how long I have been reading. This spot is a place where I can relax and really get hooked into my book. I feel nothing is going on around my and I don't have to worry about anything. This is why I love this reading spot.

ReplyDeleteI like to read in a lot of places, but my favorite place is in my ENO. I set up my ENO on my back porch and since I live in a quiet neighborhood it is very peaceful. A lot of times I say I am going to read for thirty minutes, but I actually read for an hour, since I am alone with no timer to tell me to stop. I also like reading in my ENO because it's away from my noisy siblings and dog. Another reason I like reading in my ENO is because I love to be outdoors and with all the wildlife. Reading in my ENO outside is my favorite place to read.

One reason why I love it so much is that there are lots of windows and in my opinion there is nothing more peaceful than the outside world. Also I love to read on rainy days so when I do, I feel like I can hear each individual raindrop splash on the ground. This is why in my opinion the couch is the best place to read.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is outside on my porch. I love to read outside because I love sitting on the couch, and feeling the breeze of the fans blowing on my face. Also I love hearing the birds chirp and all the different noises that you hear outside. Yesterday, my mom and I sat on my porch and read while it was raining. We could hear the raindrops hitting the roof and porches and it was so peaceful. It feels so cozy and relaxing with the hum of the fans. This is why reading outside is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI have two favorite places to read. One of my favorite places is on our screen porch when it is chilly with a fire to keep me warm. I love sitting in our comfy, striped chair with the footrest. I love hearing the fire crackle while I am reading in the night. I also love seeing the bright stars and moon shine above me while I am locked in a good book. I’d rather sit out there and read when the weather is cool in the fall and spring than in the summer when it is just too hot for me. This is why I have a second favorite place to read. My other favorite place to read is in my brown leather chair in my room because it is very comfy, and I can lay back and put my feet up. I also prefer to read in my room because it feels very peaceful, unlike in the living room where my younger siblings are making noise.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is in my living room. That is my favorite spot because it is still and peaceful. I like to sit on this white and grey couch. I find that if I read in there I can get in to a book more, and it captures me into the book. Most living rooms our noisy but no one really goes in mine. My favorite traits about it is it is dark but not to dark, and it is very cozy to.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is camp. I really enjoy sitting by myself in a quiet spot and just reading. It realizes me after a morning or afternoon of doing various activities to just chill and read.

My favorite place to read is my bed. It is quiet and very comfortable. I like to read at night before I go to bed because it relaxes me and helps me fall asleep. If I got home and was tired, I would read to help relax myself. I love reading in my comfortable bed!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is outside on my porch. It is very quiet, however I love the sounds of the birds and the leaves in the wind. It helps me concentrate about what I am reading. I have tried to read in my house, but my family is very distracting. Reading outside helps me escape all the craziness of my house. I have also tried to read in the hammock. However the swaying back and forth can easily distract me from my book. The porch is the perfect place for me and that is where I love to read.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is my living room couch. It makes me feel safe and comfortable. This enables me to fully focus in on what's going on in the current place in my book. And when I can understand my book better, it's more fun to read. My favorite place to read is my living room couch because it helps me focus in on my book.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is on the couch that is in my room. It has a window behind it and a place to rest my feet in front of it. No matter what I am reading whether it is my favorite book or just my theory book I always will do it there, unless I am in the car. It is a very comfortable place to sit so it makes it even easier to sink into a good book, so that makes it the perfect place to read, at least for me.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy reading while floating on a pool float in my pool. It’s very relaxing and always helps to calm me down when I am stressed or worried about something. It’s also very enjoyable when I’m not stressed and I just want to do something enjoyable on a nice, sunny day. I love the sound of the water splashing and the smell of fresh cut grass. Then, once I finish reading for awhile, I like to tell my parents what happened in my book. I will always enjoy reading on my pool float.
ReplyDeleteAs a student, my favorite place to read is at my beach house, in Longboat Key, Florida. I enjoy reading at my beach house, outside on the patio. I usually pick the lounge chair to sit in, that gives a beautiful view of the ocean waves and sand. I love reading out there at sunset, because the view is so pretty, and full of colors from shades light blue to dark pink. But during midday is fine too. Hearing the ocean waves sets me into a mood that calms me down, and puts me into the zone of my book. As a reader, that is my favorite place to read.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is on my couch, It is so comfy and warm. Another reason I love reading on the couch is that is where I always lose myself in the book I am reading. Another place I love to read is in the car. I drive to my grandparents house in Dickson County every saturday and read most of the car ride. It makes the Whole thing go by faster after all.
ReplyDeletemy favorite place to read is my room because it is a small quite place where i can read and there is no destractions and if i want to take a thirty second restroom break there is one in a ten foot ratias. this is why my room is my favorite place to read.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is ether on the rug in my room or on my bing bag! I read in my room a lot. I will always clear of the floor to read or clear the bing bag to read. I have to shut the doors to my room so my sisters can't bother me. After I close my doors I go into my closet and pick out a book to read. My room is a peaceful and a quiet place for me to read my books. This is why is my room is the best to read.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is the couch in my dads office. I like it because I can sit back, relax and read. Since the roof is flat I can hear the rain pelting down on the roof which is really relaxing. That is why my dads office is my favorite place to read.
ReplyDeleteI would research marine life animals. I am very interested in this topic because I have always loved the beach and its animals. In fact I would like to be a marine biology or a marine life veterinarian when I am older.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is in my bed. I like to turn the lights off in my room and use a reading light. I enjoy reading in the dark because it helps me relax and get ready to go to sleep.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is in the corner of my bed. It is warm and its peaceful and quiet and no one comes in so I don't get distracted. I will sometimes move around in it and I'm really in the zone when I'm in this spot. Later in the summer which was a few days ago when we got a couch that has a leg rest. It's electric so I can adjust it to a comfortable spot and read the book at the same time. I think it might be my new reading spot.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is at my window seat because it's very relaxing and nobody comes in to distract me. My second favorite place to read is my top bunk for the same reason.
