Dear readers,
First of all I want to commend you all on very thoughtful, honest blog posts thus far. I have enjoyed reading about what type of reader you are and the characters you like most. It always interests me what others have to say, and I appreciate the work you are doing on the blog.
Traveling, alongside of reading, is one of my passions. I love immersing myself in new cultures, learning the past and present of a city. Many summers I travel to different countries and always make it a point to pack multiple books to read at the airport and on the insanely long plane rides. My love of reading often coincides with my love for travel.
However the past three summers, I had different priorities. I focused on directing the Summer Teachers Institute at Oak Hill, which was a three-day workshop for Nashville area teachers. However I leave for the beach this week and cannot wait for life to slow down, so I can devour some great literature. Whenever I travel, especially to the beach, I make sure to pack multiple books and set aside time to read. The beach is my favorite place to read whether it is with my feet in the sand under an umbrella, lounging at the pool, or relaxing on the day bed swing on the upstairs porch. The beach life allows me to slow down and read for hours. In a week's trip, I usually read two to three books. I am most relaxed and content when I make the time to read at the beach.
Where is your favorite place to read? Why?
I would say my favorite place to read would probably be outside on a hammock. When I am able to go outside and read I feel like all worries before me have left my body, and I can just focus on reading a good book. For me to be focussed on a book it has to be very quiet. When I go outside to read it is all quiet except for the chirping of birds. I love reading with all sounds of nature all around me. Reading outside helps me feel closer to God because I am able to relax in all of his creations. I love to read outside!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, Charlotte. My favorite place to read is outside. Whether it is in my backyard on my trampoline or feet in the sand at the beach, reading outside is the best! It’s very peaceful with the occasional call of a bird or the ruffle of leaves on a tree. When it’s very quiet, I can get absorbed in a book and people have to yell at me to get me back to reality. When I get absorbed in a book, its as if I am the main character in the book feeling everything she is feeling and seeing everything she is seeing, even though I know that nature is what surrounds me. Lying in the presence of nature, God’s creation, is peaceful and helps all the tension and stress out of my body as I get deeper and deeper into the book. I love the feeling of the soft wind blowing on me and the sun shining on me. Nature is a place where you can just sit down and relax. That’s why I love reading outside in nature so much.
DeleteMy favorite place to read is when I go camping. I always pack my eno with me and read in it. I like reading at night when it is quite and there are stars above my head. I have a connection with nature, it's almost like when I am in nature all my worries and doubts just vanish, and the world just stops. It is always so peaceful and that is what I love about it. This is why my favorite place to read is when I go camping.
DeleteWhen reading, I enjoy to be basically anywhere. I am pretty good at drowning out noises when I want to, and I can sit in many different spaces. Chairs, couches, hammocks, planes, the ground, you name it and I will read in it. When I am really into a good book, I usually read somewhere I won't be bothered or interrupted. Reading helps me relax and books will take me to new places all over. I don't have to be in a specific place to enjoy a book, I just need a book and I will be happy. When it comes to reading, all I really think about is the actually reading and not the place I will be reading in. I like reading everywhere!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is in my bed. I will read before I go to bed or even after I wake up in the morning. In my bed I am calm and relaxed. It is peaceful and no one is disturbing me. The best thing about reading in my bed at night is that their isn't a timer. I could read a couple pages then fall asleep or read a couple chapters. I remember what has happened in my book when I’m in my room which comes in handy because I have found myself read the same page over and over again.

DeleteMy favorite place to read is the living room. When I get home from School or a summer camp I will just get my book and sit on the couch and start reading. I Just loose the world around my and go into the world of my book. I really calm and anxious to read more. I don't always feel relaxed when I get, but I can Still focus on my book. That is why my favorite place yo read is the living room.
ReplyDeleteUnlike most people My favorite place to read is in the car. A lot of people say they get car sick if they read during road trips, but for me it it is a great way to pass time. I travel for tennis a lot and although I never travel much out of the state, the almost three hour trips to Chattanooga and Memphis can be really awful! I get my reading homework done, and in what feels like two minutes the trip is over. I think reading in the car is a good way to pass time during a road trip and is a good way to get lost in a book!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is my playroom. My brothers are always playing somewhere else, so it is a nice and quiet place. When it is quiet I get into the book more and I better understand the book. In my playroom I like to lay on the couch. When it is quiet I usually read more of my book and I enjoy it more. Usually most of the time I am doing something, but I can usually find a time to go into my playroom and read.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is outside. I like to read outside because it is very quiet and peaceful. All I can here are the birds chirping and the wind blowing. The shine of the sun makes up for being a perfect reading light! Every time I go outside to read it makes me feel like I am in a whole other world. I love to read outside and I recommend everyone to try it!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is outside in my hammock. I enjoy this spot because it is under two trees so it is shady and cool even on a hot day. Also, it’s nice to hear the animals outside and feel some breeze. My dogs usually come out with me so it gives them a chance to play while I read. All of these things make this my favorite spot to read.
ReplyDeleteI love reading in a little chair in my room. Having my lights off and a little dim lamb on is so peaceful. There is something about being right there right then with a great book makes me feel like I never want to get up and just block out the world. When I am there I just want to enjoy myself. There is nothing better then that!
ReplyDeleteI don’t have a “favorite” place to read because I don’t really care about the surroundings so much because I am an only child, so it is rarely ever noisy in my house. Although, one place I enjoy the most in my house is my bay window in my room. It’s next to two giant windows, and nice scenery surrounding you is always nice in my opinion. Another place I love to read is the airplane. I like this place because there is not much other options, so it just makes me not be restless and just enjoy a book, even if I don’t get to read in the airplane as often. Overall though, I don’t really notice what’s around me when I am really into a book.

ReplyDeleteI have a lot of places I like to read, but my favorite is in my bed under my covers at night. I love reading there because it is warm under my covers in my bedroom, it is very quiet, and I like reading with a headlamp at night. When I am reading I like to be warm because it makes me feel really comfortable. I like reading when it is quiet because I can concentrate on my book better than I do when there is lots of noise. I like reading at night with a headlamp because I don’t feel like I am missing out on anything really fun and I like being able to see my book when the rest of my room is dark. When I really get into my book I forget about everything and I zone out if the book is good and if I am comfortable.
My favorite place to read is my bed, because when I have gotten everything settled to go to bed, I normally just grab a book and read for thirty minutes, and then fall asleep. It is always very peaceful, and a great way for me to end my day. It is always very cozy and I can have a bit of quiet time, because everyone is going to bed. I am not a fan of keeping track of how long I read or how many pages I read, so just relaxing and winding it down in bed with a good book is amazing. My bed is one of the most comfortable places in my house, so that’s why my favorite place to read is in my bed.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is on a couch, with blankets piled on top of me. I love this spot because it helps me sink into the book I am reading, get the peace and quiet I need to focus on the book, and it is super comfortable. Being comfortable is an important part of reading because if you are moving around a lot you are not truly concentrating on the book. My favorite part of the day to read is in the afternoon. Mainly because the light outside is perfect to shine on the book, without being too bright. For me, the time and place is important to like reading a book.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is not very far away. I love to read in the privacy of my room every night before I go to bed. I do this because after a big, tiring, stressful day I like to hunker down before I go to bed every night. I do this by reading. I think my favorite place to read is my bedroom is because I tend to get very picky when I’m trying to read a book and someone or something is making noise. Quiet, calm, and private places are the best places to get sucked into a nice book. My bedroom definitely is quiet, calm, and private. That's the best place to read in my opinion

Sometimes when I read in my bed I get really into the book I lose track of how long I have been reading. I also like to read in my bed because it is really comfortable and makes me want to read even longer.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is in my room. I feel that it is a quiet and relaxing spot for me to really focus on the book I am reading. I even will sometimes get so trapped into a book, that I won't come out of my room for an hour. I love the comfort of my room, and it makes me enjoy the book even more.
ReplyDeleteWhen I am reading, I always enjoy somewhere quiet. This place is usually in my bedroom, because no one else is in my room to bother me. I can sit down and get drawn into my book really fast. I am also able to relax which helps me keep reading my book, because I don't have to get up and move because I am not comfortable.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is in my bedroom. because when ever I am in there doing my reading I like to close the door so it is quiet. But then I usually I turn on music with y computer. And when ever I am in my room with the door closed my siblings and nanny know I am doing homework. And the only time the come in is when they have a question or to tell me it is time for swimming. That is why my favorite place to read is my bedroom.

I read in my room every night before I go to bed. It gives me something to think about before I go to sleep. I love reading in my room.

It's very quiet when i do it because i usually like to read at night, or when it's raining. It is super relaxing to have the windows all around me with rain pouring down.
ReplyDeletesomewhere I enjoy reading is in my room. I like to read at night to because everyone is tired or asleep. It feels like it is just me and my book. Sometimes i'll stay awake for hours when I mean to only stay up for a few minutes. It's quiet, relaxing, and nobody distracts you or you don't have to pause reading and do something or go somewhere. It's just you and your book. That is why it is my favorite place to read.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is in my car while it's moving. I like it because sometimes I look out my window and I can visualize what is happening in my book. Hopefully no one is talking or honking their horn at people. If I really get into the book I will fall asleep and I forget what I read and then I have to read it all over again. That is why I love and sometimes not like but it is still my favorite place to read.
ReplyDeletemy favorite place to read is in my room because is is the most relaxing place in my opinion and its quiet so I don't have to listen to my brother and sister arguing or playing games really loudly. Plus, at night when Im reading, I can just lay in my bed and read so then when i'm tired, I could just fall asleep. But I love reading right before I go to bed. It helps me sleep. So that is my favorite spot to read.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is in my room. Ever since I was little I would run up to my room and read. I read in my room because its quiet and sometimes there is noise but I don't mind it. I especially love it when it's raining because I love to hear the rain bouncing onto my windows. When I read in my room, I can imagine what is happening in my book even better. I can imagine the characters just walking around my house. This is why I love reading in my room.
ReplyDeleteAt the beach. I love reading, but I enjoy it more when I am at the beach with the sand in my toes and the waves in my ears. I don't know why, but I especially like reading mystery on the shore. Maybe it’s because of my imagination swirls around with the waves, or maybe it’s just a habit. I love reading at the beach and hope you do to.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is in my room especially before. I just get super relaxed and so into my book it is scary. I even sometimes try to mimic the peoples faces in the book based on what the book is describing without even realizing it. With no distractions in my room and me being completely into my book it also serves as a sleeping pill. In conclusion my room is my favorite place to read because, no distractions, it makes me sleepy and finally being in my room makes me feel safe and comfortable so I can really get into my book.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite places to read is on my bed. I lay on my stomach with a book in my hands. Being in my room is my way of relaxing, so, it's very easy to read in there. I am completely focused and really into my book that I can visualize it. This may seem weird but, I like to read with either gum or a lollipop. The bad thing is, sometimes my room can get too quiet so, it's nice to hear a soft sound of gum or a lollipop in my mouth. This is why I love to read in my room.

It has such a pleasant vibe to it, and I love to hear the sound of the waves crashing into the sand. The peacefulness allows me to go to a whole different place in the book. I love to read at the beach because it is where I usually get the best out of a book.

Reading in a somewhat quiet place gives me space to visualize and think deeply about what I'm reading. It's the type of place where I can really focus and grasp a great understanding about the book! ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is on the beach I love laying down on my towel and puttin my feet in the sand and get pulled into a book and not want to stop. I love the sound of the waves and the sand between my toes is so relaxing and there are no distractions This is where I love to read.
ReplyDeleteI love reading in my bedroom, under the covers, with all the lights in my room on and pouring rain outside, and my cat on the bed with me. I don't know why I like the rain so much to read. Maybe it calms me, maybe there's just something satisfying about being inside, sheltered and cozy.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is in a vehicle. I don't necessarily like to read on my way back from school, but when I am going on a long trip, or riding in an airplane for a couple of hours. Recently, I read two whole books in a car ride that was a couple of hours. Although you could do this in a day that you have to yourself at home, I sometimes get sidetracked and want to do something else like go to the pool or play a game on the T.V. This doesn't mean that I don't like to read, I just want a place to read where I can really get lost in the book and not put it down until I finish it. I can and usually do read in other places because I am not traveling frequently, but I would just prefer to read in a car or plane so it will be easier to get lost in the book. It is also a good time to read books in a series so you could remember events happening in previous books without having to re-read. I like everything about reading in a car except for perhaps that I usually get carsick…….

ReplyDeleteThere are many places I enjoy reading. Just like Ms. Sikes said, I enjoy reading at the beach, especially on days where it isn't crowded and quiet. I love being transported into the adventure, and the beach helps do that. Another place I love to read is lounging around my house. Sometimes my mom and I will sit next to each other on the couch and read our books for hours. The last place I love to read is at our farm. Because it's out in the middle of nowhere, it is the perfect place to wind down and dive into a book for hours.

DeleteMy favorite place to read is in the living room when my brother is reading too. When we are both reading then the house is quiet. Usually I sit on our comfy couch to read. When I am on the couch, I really get into my books because I am so relaxed. I usually read for 45 minutes to an hour if everything is just right. I think it is important for your reading spot to be somewhere quiet and comforting.

I love the beach because there are nice, relaxing sounds that help me to get lost in my book. Unfortunately, we don't any beaches in the middle of Tennessee, so my favorite place to read here would be in my bedroom.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is my eno. What I like about my eno is that i can move it around depending on the day. The hammock is very comfortable and there are no distractions where I read because I can choose where I do it. Overall the maneuverability and comfort of my eno makes it the best reading spot for me.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is my room. Whether its in my eno or my bed, my room usually provides peace and quiet. When I have peace and quiet I am usually able to get more work/reading done. That is why my room is my favorite place to read.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is out on my screened in porch. I love reading on my porch because you get to enjoy the most of the weather and sounds of outside, but you can do it in a comfy chair and there are no mosquitoes bothering you. It is also relaxing because I do it during the night and it is very quiet outside. You can just sit in the glow of a lamp and dive into a great book. The porch is by far the best place to read in my house.

ReplyDeleteI think that one of my favorite places to read is probably at my mountain house. I usually sit on the deck because there is a mountain view, and it is so peaceful. I love to read on any vacations, like the beach, but I love to read at my mountain house the most.
